Brokenships Bistro

INTERIOR DESIGN, EQUIPMENT DESIGN, SPATIAL STORYTELLING

Brokenships Bistro is the sub-brand of the widely known Museum of Broken Relationships, exhibiting the remnants of people’s happy and sad relationships and breakups. Brokenships Bistro is the museum’s neighbouring gourmet venue, exploring the concept of culinary solace by serving comforting food. The space had to embody the themes of love, breakups, a range of emotions, and a yearning for comfort. The idea behind the interior design concept is to convey the involuntary processes of intensifying or fading emotions associated with falling in love and the less desirable process of falling out of love.

DESIGN CONCEPT

Soft and pale emotions gradually become more intense, and vice versa. Both falling in love and breakups involve stages of emotions that either fade or intensify, represented through a pink paint gradient on the walls. Simple, solid black furniture and equipment are juxtaposed against the gentle but dynamic walls and vaults, blending seamlessly with the red-hued floor.
